Road Trippin' in Iceland

After a quiet, solo, Christmas in Bologna, I boarded a plane to meet up with the family for New Year's Eve. Destination, Reykjavík, Iceland.

I arrived just in time for dinner.

K-Bar is a cool spot, right downtown, with a Korean inspired menu. Much appreciated after the limited options in Bologna.

The next day, we woke up "bright" and early for an inland road trip. It's much colder outside of the city. I bundled up, but nothing could prepare me for the wind.

We stopped for coffee at the summer house, which doubles nicely as a winter cabin.

Then back on the road for a visit to the greenhouses!

One of the friendly owners let us in on his backroom secret.

As much as I would love it if these creatures all belonged to the burly gentleman showing us around, they are the proud collection of his wife. Still creepy. Moving on.

We finally made it to the windiest place on the planet. Gullfoss! Which is rushing and green in the summer, but in the winter looks more like this.

After five minutes of feeling like we'd blow right in. I gave up on photos and got back in the car.

Last stop of the day, Geysir.

The wind wouldn't allow for the towers of steam that the great geysir, or even the little geysir, are capable of. But it was a sight to see nonetheless.

Back in the car and back to the city for homemade pizza and hot chocolate.

Three Months Gone

There is no excuse for a three-month hiatus. Except for maybe the madness surrounding getting an M.A.? In an effort to get us all up to speed, here is brief photo review of my trip to Istanbul, and a bit of Bologna at the end.

Happy December! Until next year (because, let's be honest, I'm terrible at this whole blog thing...)

An oasis in a desert of bolognese (yes, those are french fries with my sashimi, don't judge)

I've always been lucky in the roommate department
